Manchester City Confirm Enzo Maresca as New Manager

Manchester City have officially appointed Enzo Maresca as the club’s new manager, with the Italian signing a three-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2029.

Maresca returns to Manchester City for a third spell after previously serving as the club’s Elite Development Squad coach and later as part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team coaching staff.

The 46-year-old succeeds Guardiola and takes charge of one of Europe’s strongest squads following successful spells as manager at Chelsea and Leicester City.

Speaking after his appointment, Maresca said he was excited to return to a club he knows well.

“Manchester City is a club I know very well and to have the chance to manage this team is a brilliant opportunity for me,” he said.

“Everything the club does is planned with purpose, and that gives a manager the perfect environment to succeed. I know the expectations here and I can’t wait to start working with the players.”

Maresca added that his ambition is to continue City’s winning tradition while playing attractive football.

“I want us to win, play good football and enjoy the responsibility of representing Manchester City.”

Manchester City Chief Executive Officer Ferran Soriano said Maresca was the outstanding choice to lead the club into its next chapter.

“We know Enzo’s personality, his football philosophy and his leadership qualities. He understands this club and has already played an important role in our success. We will give him everything he needs to succeed.”

Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also welcomed Maresca’s return, describing him as the perfect fit for Manchester City’s long-term vision.

“Enzo’s ambition, intelligence and passion match the values of this football club. He returns to an organisation that shares his desire to achieve success, and we believe he is the right person to build on everything that has already been achieved.”

Maresca’s appointment marks the beginning of a new era at Manchester City as the Premier League champions look to continue competing for domestic and European honours under new leadership.
